A. Japan celebrates cherry blossom season, or 'hanami', when people gather in parks and gardens to have picnics under the blooming cherry trees. They enjoy food, drinks, and the company of family and friends. Hanami has been celebrated in Japan for centuries and remains one of the country's most beloved customs. The blossoms usually last only about two weeks, symbolising the beauty and short nature of life. At night, many parks are lit up so visitors can enjoy the flowers after dark.

B. Thai cuisine is known for its vibrant flavours and aromatic herbs and spices. It has a perfect balance of five flavours: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and spicy. This balance creates a unique and delicious taste that attracts people from around the globe. Popular dishes include pad Thai, green curry, and tom yum soup. Fresh ingredients like lemongrass, chilli, and coconut milk are used in almost every meal, making Thai cuisine both healthy and incredibly flavourful.

C. The African elephant is the largest land animal, distinguished by its large ears and long trunk. Known for their intelligence and strong social connections, elephants play a crucial role in their ecosystems. They communicate through vibrations and low-frequency sounds that can travel several kilometres. Female elephants live in close family groups led by the oldest female, called the matriarch. Sadly, these magnificent animals face threats from poaching and habitat loss.

D. Iceland is known as the land of fire and ice due to its dramatic weather and landscape. The island experiences cool summers and relatively mild winters thanks to the Gulf Stream. However, temperatures can change instantly, with sunshine turning to rain or snow within minutes. Strong winds are common, especially along the coast. In winter, visitors flock to Iceland hoping to see the magical northern lights dancing across the dark Arctic sky.

E. Stonehenge is one of the most mysterious landmarks in Britain, located in the English county of Wiltshire. This ancient stone circle was built in several stages between \(3000\) and \(1500\) BC. No one knows exactly how prehistoric people moved the massive stones, some weighing up to \(25\) tons, from places as far as Wales. The purpose of Stonehenge also remains a mystery, with theories suggesting it was a burial ground, a religious site, or an astronomical calendar. Today, thousands of visitors come to wonder at this incredible achievement every year.
